Your educated impression would be correct! Which is why we thought it completely acceptable to create a brand around the idea of a kiwi being propelled into space (via a rocket thanks to the sweet as geothermal energy of Rangitoto Island).

What on earth makes a kiwi suitable for intergalactic travel?

The kiwinaut is the ultimate space faring explorer. One might even say the kiwinaut is to space what the early Polynesian people were to the Pacific when they set about their voyagers. As a kiwi in space, this nimble little guy has outstanding smell, an “impeccable” beak, and are quite adaptable to different habitats. They are also quite aggressive and territorial, great traits to have when setting up a new colony.
